  • 12th Grade Students and the Science Assessment

To allow those grade 12 students required to participate in the grade 11 science assessment (only those students who “skipped” grade 11) ALL grade 12 students had to be changed (in TIDE only) to grade 11. This change will not impact your files. It was done ONLY to allow the registration of students required to test.

  • Issue with TTS set to "on" by default for the Math test.  We are aware of the issue where TTS is currently available for the Math test, regardless of what is set for the student in TIDE. We are working on a fix.  Please note that TTS is defaulted to "off" for the reading portion of the ELA test, so it will not affect accountability and students will not have to be retested.

Text to Speech will appear on the second segment of the test (writing segment) to those students who it has been deemed appropriate. Please know that when you turn on the Text to Speech testing tool, it still will not appear on the reading section of the test.
This would also pertain to anyone using the Human Read Aloud non-embedded accommodation/designated support.

  • The ELA portion of the Summative Assessment is made up of two segments. Segment 1 is the reading portion of the test and segment 2 is the writing portion. There is only one writing prompt in the test.

A student may not go on to Segment 2 of the ELA test without the permission of the teacher. The teacher will be prompted that the student has only one question left in the ELA test. This is the writing prompt.

It has been noted that we have had at least one instance where a  student reached the end of segment 1, and there was a 20 minute lag before being allowed into segment 2, even with the teacher’s permission.
